Lastly, in this same section, we can see that the character is Level 12. Exactly what it means / what it will look like is unknown. All we know for sure is that the stuff in quotes is going to be in the game. Again, this is just speculation as I attempt to intepret the State of Play voiceover.
Abilities could be an umbrella term for all of these, or it could be whatever 'Upgrades' aren't out of those two possibilities. Or it could be more like a temper bonus, or using a better soul gem to make your enchantments more potent. An 'Upgrade' may be a passive effect on worn equipment, and/or received as a reward for doing something - like the Blessing of Talos from Skyrim. A 'Talent' may be a perk you can unlock as you level up (like Arcane Blacksmith from Skyrim). e.g., a 'Skill' may level up like, say, Smithing in Skyrim. I am guessing these are all gameplay components with different functions. They also say you can "level up your abilities by choosing talents to upgrade your spells, plants and potions to increase their power." This is speculation, but to me, it feels deliberate that they talk about "upgrades, talents, and skills" as well as "abilities". Note that during that section, the voiceover says there will be "a deep set of upgrades, talents, and skills". (Alchemy, Herbology, and Fantastic Beasts may also be part of "Core" which might be for perks relating to school subjects rather than general spellwork.) Some possibilities for what they may be include: Social/Charisma/Speech, Fantastic Beasts, Alchemy and/or Herbology, Survival, Flight, Ancient Magic, or something else entirely. I'm guessing that contains perks to enhance your spell-casting, e.g., Incendio's burn effect is stronger or lasts longer Stupefy has stronger knockback etc. We also see a tree for "Stealth" which is fairly self-explanatory, and one with a spell tome icon called "Core". So it's a safe bet that one of the five talent branches is for upgrades that relate to the Room of Requirement - unlocking new/better decorations, getting more functionality out of them, etc. The right-most one shows Deek the House Elf holding a potion bottle, and the cursor is hovering over it with "Room of Requirement" at the bottom. It's speculation as to what some of these are, but we do know a few. They show a "Talents" pane of the game menu UI, which has five categories. The question isn't whether there will be one, but rather, how extensive and diverse it will be.Īt 8:19 in the State of Play footage, they have a section of the presentation dedicated to "Talents & Abilities". There is a ton of evidence for a building system.
